The launch of DJI’s Matrice 400 (M400) UAV marks an important development in the laser scanning world, opening up new possibilities for integration with RIEGL’s VUX series sensors.
With a maximum payload capacity of up to 6kg, the M400 is DJI’s latest platform capable of supporting integration with RIEGL’s full-size VUX series scanners, including the popular VUX-120.

Until now, DJI users had been limited to operating the lighter RIEGL miniVUX systems on previous Matrice models. This new compatibility broadens the scope of UAV-based laser scanning applications for operators who work within the DJI ecosystem.

Laser Scanning Possibilities with the VUX Series
With the M400’s expanded payload capacity, users now have greater flexibility in the types of LiDAR sensors they can deploy.
These sensors are well-suited for advanced UAV-based data capture, offering high accuracy, long-range capabilities, and rapid acquisition speeds.
Engineered for applications like corridor mapping, forestry, urban modelling, and infrastructure monitoring, the VUX series supports multi-target detection, high pulse repetition rates, and RIEGL’s proven waveform processing technology.
Next-Level Laser Scanning Starts Here
The M400’s higher payload capacity gives DJI users access to a broader class of sensors, unlocking new possibilities for aerial LiDAR scanning.
While this integration highlights the expanding potential of DJI’s M400 platform, it’s important to note that RIEGL’s VUX series LiDAR scanners are entirely platform agnostic. Designed to be versatile, these sensors can be integrated across a wide range of UAVs, including both multirotor and fixed-wing systems, from various manufacturers.
Regardless of who you're working with, RIEGL's open architecture and flexible mounting options allow users to deploy the VUX series in configurations that best meet the demands of their specific surveying applications - from corridor mapping to forestry, mining, and beyond.
