RIEGL VUX-820-G
A complete solution for topo-bathymetric surveys

The RIEGL VUX-820-G is an airborne LiDAR system for mapping underwater structures and seabed topography. Compact and lightweight, it works with UAVs such as multirotor, fixed-wing, or VTOL drones to capture accurate topo-bathymetric data from across aquatic environments.

It utilises online waveform processing, full-waveform recording, and echo digitisation to precisely measure water depth and map the seafloor and submerged ground. It integrates a RIEGL RiLOC-F inertial navigation system and an RGB camera, enriching LiDAR data with clear imagery.
Why choose the VUX-820-G?

Fully integrated system
LiDAR, GNSS/IMU, and RGB imaging are combined in one platform. This streamlines data capture and keeps datasets aligned throughout the process.

Precise mapping
Powerful LiDAR sensors can achieve measurements up to 2.2 Secchi depth. The green laser wavelength maps coastal shallows and underwater terrain with accuracy.

RIEGL ecosystem
The system integrates seamlessly with RIEGL software and processing tools. This means you’ll benefit from consistent data quality and long-term reliability.

Compact design
Weighing just 5.7kg, the VUX-820-G is lightweight and robust. It mounts easily on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or light aircraft to suit a variety of airborne LiDAR operations.
Key applications for the VUX-820-G
Coastline mapping
Mapping coastal zones for environmental studies, shoreline change detection, and hydrographic surveys.
Reservoir surveying
Capturing precise depth and terrain data for monitoring sedimentation and water resource management.
Hydro-engineering
Measuring ports, dams, and hydraulic structures to support inspection, maintenance, and planning tasks.
Hydro-archaeology
Allow documentation & preservation of submerged heritage sites with 3D underwater artefacts & landscapes.
